Centennial Celebrations of Our Archdiocese

Join us throughout this year of jubilation as we celebrate 100 years as an ArchdioceseCentennial Logo. The opening celebrations began with Solemn Vespers on December 4th, 2014 at St. Mary's Cathedral with several events planned for this centennial year. Please see below.

On Sunday, May 3, 2015, we celebrated the Grand Centenntial Celebration of our 100th anniversary as an archdiocese, at the MTS Centre.

Over 800 candidates from across the archdiocese celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation with Archbishop Richard Gagnon, Archbishop of Winnipeg and several guest bishops visiting from across Canada. Approxiamtely 14,000 participated in this joyous event in the life of our local church.

Vespers at St Mary’s Cathedral: Sunday, October 18, 7:30 p.m., to honour the contribution of Religious Communities to the life and mission of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg. All are welcome. See attached poster. 

The Archdiocese of Winnipeg, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: An Academic Symposium. October 22-24 at St. Paul’s College, U of M. The symposium begins with Vespers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.22 and the weekend Keynote speakers include Most Rev. J. Michael Miller, Archbishop of Vancouver, Dr. Peter Meehan, Principal pro tem of St. Mark's College and Dr. Terence Fay, S.J., History Professor of Religion at Toronto School of Theology, Univeristy of Toronto. NEW - The Closing Celebration for the Centennial Year of the Archdiocese of Winnipeg will be celebrated in the context of Solemn Vespers at 7:30 p.m. on December 4, 2015 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Winnipeg. All are welcome!

Centennial Mass DVDs Available:  DVDs of the Centennial Mass, May 3 at MTS Centre are now available! Individual parishioners are asked to order the DVD through their parish office.

Archdiocese of Winnipeg Centennial T-Shirts:  T-shirts commemorating the Centennial Celebration are also available for purchase at the Archdiocesan Catholic Centre. There are a variety of sizes available: S, M, L, XL and XXL.  The color is Blue and they are $20.00 each.Please email communications@archwinnipeg.ca or call (204) 452-2227 ext. 248.

Tour of the Centenary Icon of the Holy Family Begins:
Saint-Francois Saint-Francois Xavier Parish, Saint-Francois Xavier, June 27 to July 5.
St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish, Brandon, July 11 to July 19.
Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Parish, Camperville, July 25 to August 2.
St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Russell, August 8-9 and 15-16.
Good Shepherd Parish, Portage la Prairie, August 22-23 and 29-30.
St. Michael’s Parish, Gimli, September 5-6 and 12-13.
St Vital Parish, Winnipeg, September 19-20 and 26-27.
St John Brebeuf Parish, Winnipeg, October 3-4 and 10-11.
St. Paul’s College, Christ the King Chapel, University of Manitoba, October 14-18.
