Claiming the Dignity of Cremated Remains – Monique Gauthier
At a time when the secular world offers ‘twenty-seven things to do with cremated remains’, we can be overwhelmed by the options made available to us when a loved one dies. These influences have led many people, including the Catholic faithful, to disperse or scatter remains, or keep them at home indefinitely. The teachings of the Catholic Church, re-iterated in an important instruction released by Pope Francis in 2016, instruct us on the treatment of cremated remains. When cremation is chosen, the entire ritual moment of the Order of Christian Funerals should be celebrated. Monique Gauthier, from Living Waters Columbarium, will delve into the rituals supporting death, and the consolation of faith made present through the complete celebration of this ritual movement when cremation is chosen.
* All sessions will be held at the St. Ignatius Adult Education Centre, 255 Stafford Street. Entrance to the Adult Education Centre is on Jessie Street.
