WILLIAM (BILL) McCALLAN
April 18, 1941 – December 2, 2000
William (Bill) Mc Callan passed away peacefully in his home in Englehart on Saturday, December 2, 2000.
Mr. McCallan is survived by his wife Adel, daughter Tisha (and her husband Rob O’Keefe of Winnipeg), three granddaughters (Sarah, Katie and Maggie), great-grandson Michael, brother Wayne (and his wife Betty) of Cobalt, sister Carolyn (and her husband Dale Conners) of London, Ontario, and sister Orrene McCallan-Davis of London, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents William (Orv) McCallan and Irene Sullivan (McCallan), son Michael and brother Norman.
Mr. McCallan was born in Hanover, Ontario, on April 18, 1941. He came to Englehart in 1965 from North Bay. Mr. McCallan was a businessman in Englehart who operated Sullivan’s Men’s Wear and then the Englehart Esso Service Centre. He was an active community participant in Englehart, enjoying activities which made the community work well together. He was a member of a variety of clubs, and over the years had served on the Englehart and District Hospital board, the Ontario housing board, town council and Englehart recreation. Mr. McCallan was also a member of the Englehart Emmanuel United Church.He touched everyone who met him, no matter their age.
Funeral arrangements were by McDonald Funeral Home in Englehart. The service was held at the Holy Trinity Church in Englehart on Tuesday, December 5. Reverend Melody Duncanson and Dr. Brad Clark officiated. Pallbearers were Matthew Torlee, Craig McCallan, Andrea McCallan-Davis, John Gaskin, David Gaskin and Jacqueline McCallan-Britles. Burieal is at the Englehart cemetery.
