Development and Peace Share Lent 2018 – Building cultural and religious tolerance in Lebanon: During this second week of Share Lent, we focus on the organization Adyan, a Development and Peace partner that contributes to peace in the Middle East by fostering cultural and religious tolerance. Adyan offers a wide range of programs, including conferences, training sessions, and workshops on peace, reconciliation, and coexistence. In this part of the world wounded by past and present wars, Adyan’s work is essential and your support is indispensable to them. Chemin Neuf Weekly Prayer Group: Chemin Neuf Community has started a weekly prayer group at St. Charles Retreat Centre, 323 St. Charles Street. Beginning February 26, it will be Monday evenings from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. There is worship, quiet listening, perhaps a short teaching or testimony. Sometimes we will show a Net for God film, one of the monthly films made by our community and distributed around the world in a kind of “net” of prayer. No registration necessary.
Assembly of Western and Northern Canadian Catholic Bishops: Mass to Celebrate the 200th Anniversary – Come all and join the 25 bishops from throughout Western and Northern Canada to mark the spread of the Gospel and life of the Church throughout our dioceses. A Eucharistic celebration will be held on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Boniface Cathedral and will be presided by Most Reverend Albert LeGatt, Archbishop of Saint-Boniface; the homily will be given by Most Reverend Richard Gagnon, Archbishop of Winnipeg. All clergy, religious and laity are warmly welcomed to come and celebrate the Eucharist and to visit in fellowship with the bishops after the Mass. Female World Sport School Challenge: For the 6th consecutive year St. Mary’s Academy is hosting the Female World Sport School Challenge (FWSSC). Top female hockey teams from across North America play in this Hockey Canada initiated tournament March 1-4 at the Bell MTS Iceplex. Rekindling The Fire Within: Please join this Lenten Mission for two hours for three evenings with three priests in a choice of more than four parishes. The remaining sessions are: March 13 at St. Francis Xavier Parish; March 14 at St. Eustache Parish; March 15 at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Elie. Sessions run from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Presented by Fr. Michel Nault, Fr. David Kowalski and Fr. Michael Wollbaum. Each night there will be talks, activities, prayer and fellowship. This mission is open to all, whether Catholic or not, those who go regularly to church or not. Tuesday evening will focus on the gift of faith; Wednesday evening will be on the gift of hope; Thursday evening will focus on the gift of love.
7-Day Silent Retreat based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, April 27-May 4, Offered by the Chemin Neuf Community. The focus of the retreat is to come to know Christ more intimately through his word and to recognize God’s call in our life. St. Ignatius Adult Education Centre Preparation Days for the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius:
A 5 Week Commitment beginning May 1. The “Exercises” are a ‘user-friendly’ way to get a new sense of how God works in our lives, how to make wise choices, how to find God in the people and experiences that fill our days. While they require a time commitment and presume some prayer experience, they are open to anyone who seriously seeks to enhance the quality of their relationship with God.
