Ben lived a meaningful life.
In his early age, Ben was a varsity player during high school and college years. As a promising basketball player, Ben was awarded as Rookie of the Year and later on became their college varsity’s Team Captain.
Ben is a retired Electron Microscopy Technologist and have mostly dedicated 45 years of his life working in this field.
A devoted Roman Catholic, Ben offered his singing voice and was a member of choir who sang tenor from 1987-2007 at St. Mary’s Cathedral where he was a parishioner.
In his golden years, Ben became interested with 10 pin bowling. Ben’s effort in playing bowling led him to represent Manitoba in the North American Tournament in the 90’s.
Later on, Ben became an active member of different organization in the City such as Filipino Senior Group of Winnipeg, Age & Opportunity & Westview Dance Club. A valuable member, he made a significant contribution in renovating the Filipino Cultural & Community Center located at 49 Euclid Ave. Together with the Filipino Senior Group of Winnipeg Board of Director’s they have successfully received funding from the city, provincial & federal government aiding the renovation.
Ben’s enjoyment for active living remains constant throughout his life time.
After bowling, Ben found his passion in dancing. Through ballroom dancing he gain more friends. Up until his last moment he willingly shared his time teaching ballroom dancing at Valour Community Center for Age & Opportunity, at 49 Euclid for Filipino Senior Group of Winnipeg and finally at West End Active Living Centre.
In 2017 , Ben received a plaque from the City in recognition of his contribution to the community. His friendliness & concerns towards other endear the heart of many ; he was considered the “Godfather” of his 14 circle of friends. This group called “AMICI” became Ben’s family.
Ben was a giver, kind and loving Son, Husband, Uncle, Godfather and Friend to many.
He will truly be missed…

A memorial service took place at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 353 St. Mary’s Ave. on May 25th, 2024. Internment is to be held at a later date.
