There is a reason for every season, a time to live and a time to die. Betty passed away on May 3, 2006. She was daughter to Annie and Leonard Clarke; sister to Mary, Ethel, Clarence, Lynn, Jim, Evelyn, Florence, Viola, Margaret, Patsy; wife, best friend, companion to Grant Carswell for 50 wonderful years; mother to Shannon (Guy) and Dave (Monika); grandma to her darlings, Brad, Kristyn, Stephan, Hayden; and Betty to all. Betty had 74 years of a wonderful, loving trouble-free life. She loved family, loved to travel near and far, through Canada, the US, south’, and Europe and enjoyed everywhere she went, no matter how exotic or how ordinary, making many friends along the way. Betty’s favourite destination was her little spot of heaven on earth’, the cottage she and Grant built themselves on Big Whiteshell Lake. Summers surrounded by family, enjoying good conversation and good coffee on the deck, gourmet meals, fine wines and talking for hours around the dinner table, rousing games of cards, leisurely soaks in the hot tub, enjoying it all. Betty had a very positive outlook on life, saw the opportunity in every challenge and was an inspiration to all that were fortunate enough to know her. She taught her children and grandchildren laughter, bravery, ingenuity and insight into what really matters’. She taught us to live each day to the fullest, to surround ourselves with people we really care about and care about us. For these and many other gifts we are truly thankful. There is a time to live and a time to say goodbye, however you say one more birthday, one more Christmas, one more summer at the lake, one more sunrise, one more sunset. But the choice is not ours, so goodbye dear Betty, and we will speak of you often. Three Things (a Hug, a Kiss, I Love You!). A private service will be held. At Betty’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation: The Weekend to End Breast Cancer (204) 256-9255. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
