August 10, 1927 – February 20, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our dear mother: Paula E. Valentie de Caponetto. Mom died peacefully on February 20th at 91 years of age. She was born in Tucumán, Argentina, on August 10, 1927, child of Palmira Jerez and Emilio Valentie.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mery (Eduardo Carlino), Nené (David Rush), Silvia and Paola (Eduardo Krupnik). Also by her grandchildren: Marcela, Andrea, Eduardo, Sofía and Maria Carlino; Nicholas and Andrea Rush and Micaela Krupnik and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband: Salvador Caponetto in 1988, after 41 years of marriage. Paula was a devoted mother and dedicated housewife, who excelled at cooking, knitting, sewing and teaching her abilities to others. Always compassionate and caring, she received an Honorary sister title from the Sagrado Corazón Congregation in Tucumán.
Mom enjoyed singing, dancing tango and hosting family gatherings.
Mom will be remembered by us and her many friends for her loyalty, kindness and generosity.
She came to Winnipeg in 1990 to live with her Canadian Family and enjoyed her yearly trips back home during the cold winter.
Mom was a loving woman, who cherished her family and friends, both in Argentina and in Canada.
Unfortunately, in 2015, Alzheimer’s disease prevented mom’s yearly trips back to Argentina. However, she was grateful that Canada was also her home.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the wonderful home care workers who become dear companions to mom and helped all of us through her decline.
We also wish to thank all Misericordia Place Staff who cared for mom the last 2 and 1/2 years.
Mom will always be in our hearts.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
Mass will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 4:30 pm at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Church, 15 Columbia Drive, with interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Paula’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
