On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, our beloved wife, mother, Lola (grandmother), and dear friend, FE SOREBILLO COLINA, passed away peacefully at her residence in Winnipeg, MB. She was 74 years old. Fe was born in Pili, Camarines Sur, Philippines on October 13, 1943 to Fortunato Sorebillo and Matilde Rull. Fe married Penticostes Colina on April 27, 1964 in Manila, Philippines and gave birth to three children Thomas, Maria Theresa, and Maria Fe. In 1975, the family immigrated to Brandon, MB, to begin a new life and that was where Christy and Carol Lynn were born.
Fe and Penticostes considered education essential to the success of their children and always encouraged them to excel at school. Fe and Penticostes worked tirelessly and often at several jobs in order to provide for their family. With her natural talent, incredible work ethic and a charming smile that endeared her to others, Fe advanced from being a cog on the garment factory floor to a valued and respected upholsterer and restoration worker. Fe’s courage and determination served her well when the family was faced with the devastating effects of her kidney failure in December 1985. Fe weathered it all strengthened by her family and her faith, and in September 1989 she received a second chance for life with her kidney transplant. For the next 20 years, this precious gift gave Fe the opportunity to travel several times to the Philippines and to foster her many talents and interests including gardening, sewing, cooking, shopping (she loved the best deals), and a love of animals especially her dogs. Fe was a superb baker, and her shortbread cookies were legendary and an eagerly anticipated treat every Christmas.
Following her second kidney failure several years ago, Fe remained on dialysis up to her passing. She is predeceased by her father Fortunato Sorebillo, and her mother Matilde Sorebillo. She leaves behind her loving family: husband Penticostes Colina, children Thomas (Sharon), Maria Theresa (Larry), Maria Fe (Mike), Christy (Ben) and Carol-Lynn, and her grandchildren Alana, Nicholas, Jon-Rio, Larissa, Hanna, Alexander, Vanessa, and Megan.
The Colina family would like to express their appreciation to Fe’s care providers including Drs. Robin Andrews, Brian Penner, Barry Riche, David Rush, and Jeffery. Thank you to Dr. Don Allen and the medical staff and nurses at Sherbrook Dialysis Unit, Crystal (dietician) and Calli (pharmacist).
