March 13, 1943 – July 8, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Nieman announces her passing on July 8, 2022 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 79.
Liz was the beloved wife of Bob and mother of Robert (Margo). She is survived by her sister-in-law Elsie, brother-in-law Duane (Lynn) and sister-in-law Charlene. Liz was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Millie Rojeski; sister Mary Anne, and brother Edward.
She was born and raised in Gimli then moved to Winnipeg after graduating. She immediately started working for the City of Winnipeg but then quickly moved on to work for CUPE Local 500, where she remained for over 35 years.
At the age of 27, she met the love of her life and future husband at the Winnipeg Canoe Club. In 1977 they were blessed with their only child Bobby. Liz took great pride in caring for her family, including making many perogies, cabbage rolls and pies. Bob and Liz enjoyed golfing at Breezy Bend, as well as golfing on their many trips to Florida, Texas and Arizona. They valued time spent with dear friends and family. Liz was a kind and loving person who would always put others ahead of herself.
God saw you getting tired,
So He wrapped you in his loving arms
And whispered, “Come with me.”
You suffered much in silence
Your spirit did not bend
You faced your pain with courage
Until the very end.
You tried so hard to stay with us
Your fight was not in vain
God took you in His loving arms
And saved you from all the pain.
In keeping with Liz’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass celebrating her life was held on Thursday, July 21 at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place.
